Magnetic Vision Awards
Pad your credentials with an award. Practice your pitch. Walk away with cash.
Sponsored by Hill Capital Corp. the Magnetic Vision Awards recognize outstanding entrepreneurs presenting long-term visions for their businesses that inspire prosperity for themselves and their communities.
Described as a unique mashup of Shark Tank, a TED Talk, and America's Got Talent, the Vision Award consists of entrepreneurs delivering short (2-5 min) presentations of their long-term business vision to a live audience, panel of judges, and potential investors.
Entrepreneurs are judged based on several criteria, such as "taking the audience on a journey" and more. Presenters are eligible for cash awards and to move forward to a "next level" Vision Award event for greater awards. While presenters are strongly encouraged to also exhibit at the Entrepreneur Jubilee, there is no cost to participate in the Vision Awards. Ready? Submit your Magnetic Vision here!

Magnetic Vision Awards: Guidelines for Presenting and Judging
Tell a story that takes the audience on a journey, a Magnetic Vision journey.
In the ideal example of a Magnetic Vision, the judges and audience shouldn’t simply hear a story. They should have an encounter with a journey. As such, the telling of the story includes the storyteller’s disposition, i.e., how storytellers represent their confidence, humility, and courage, as well as skills involving clarity of articulation and story continuity, connection with the audience via humor, empathy, motivation, anger at an injustice, and inspiration for a better future.
Disposition describes a storyteller embodies the experiences, skills, language, mannerism, and dramaturgy (dialogue, costume, props, stage presence) as expertise informed by and informing the field (market vertical(s), technical and social landscape) where the vision is taking place.
Connecting pragmatics with the Magnetic Vision.
Without being over-burdened by practical matters, the elements of a Magnetic Vision are guided by connecting at some level with the pragmatics of making a vision happen. On the one hand, Magnetic Visions should not be hampered by the status quo. On the other hand, a Magnetic Vision shouldn't pretend that the status quo doesn’t exist.
For example, a Magnetic Vision of putting colonies on Neptune by 2050 may be possible. However, a Magnetic Vision story will note pragmatics, like whatever “leaps” – technical, financial, organizational etc - are required to achieve such a far-flung vision.
A Magnetic Vision is a brief, tightly packed story that resonates.
As such, they combine pragmatics and the vision journey articulated and embodied by the storyteller. The telling of the story results in cognitive clarity, as well as embodied resonance. Judges will review not just how claim A. relates to evidence B. but also to what degree do they and the audience resonate with the storyteller in the here and now, as well as the future.
A degree of resonance and clarity are the end result of sensemaking. The judges and audience are quite literally 'making sense' of the story. In the immediate aftermath of the Magnetic Vision presentation, judges and the audience are encouraged to consider the sensemaking cues, large and small, of the presentation. These cues may be discussed, highlighted, exponentially developed, and cast into the future by the judges and audience. Does this storyteller create a story with clarity that resonates into the future, i.e., to what degree is this a magnetic vision?
Magnetic Visions both attract and repel.
As such, the storyteller and the story attracts followers, resources, and opportunities at the same time that it sets limits and boundaries by repelling other followers, resources, and opportunities. The strengths of the attraction and repelling, as well the degree of flexibility between the two may create a dynamic and an iterative journey of growth. This can be thought of as points of stability, instability, stability, and so on, moving through the time required to reach the vision. At the same time, the story of a journey may falter and fade, or resurge stronger than ever.
At the same time, to what degree is there flexibility, or a magnetic “neutral point” between attraction and repelling, which is necessary and portrayed by the Magnetic Vision Award? For example, the flexibility of a magnetic neutral point between attraction and repelling, providing a space of creative flow, and additional options needed for responding to situations or opportunities as they emerge in the future.
